Goal 4: Quality Education

Sustainable Development Goal 4 is about quality education and is among the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations in September 2015. The full title of SDG 4 is "Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all". SDG 4 aims to provide children and young people with quality and easy access to education plus other learning opportunities. One of its targets is to achieve universal literacy and numeracy. A major component in acquiring knowledge and valuable skills in the learning environment. Hence, the urgent need to build more educational facilities and also upgrade the present ones to provide safe, inclusive, and effective learning environments for all.

4.3 Lifelong learning measures

4.3.1 Public resources (lifelong learning)

BAAU provides free access to educational resources for those not attending at the university through an online and face to face platform, library, online courses, and lectures which is also certificated after education.

BAAU embarked on a series of public trainings focused on contributing to society on various subjects, from the health to digital technologies. Open to the public, training seminars on a wide range of themes that people from different age groups may be interested in are held online on ZOOM platform.

In 2023, some trainings held by BAAU are as follows:

Satisfaction survey on organized trainings

Arabic Language Courses 

The online classes are regularly organized for people with different Arabic language background by professional teachers. The online course is available to everyone.

First Medical Aid Course 

Join Free Online training for saving lives! The course aimed to raise awareness in society about the correct and quality first aid during unfortunate accidents and thus prevent deaths.

4.3.2         Public events (lifelong learning)

BAAU host events such as public lectures and community educational events that are open to the general public that will help raise the educational level of the public.

"Philologist's Reading Week”

One of the series of events called “Philologist”s Reading Week” was held at BAAU. At the event, Ahmet Bey Agaoglu”s work “In the Land of Free People” was discussed, and decent personality, and society at the level of utopia, anti-utopia theories, and the role of educators in this issue was remarked on.  The lecture was open to the general public and was welcomed with interest by the attendees.

4.3.3         Vocational training events

BAAU organizes activities that will contribute to professional and personal development through certification programs created by bringing together many disciplines that will help raise the educational level of the public.

In 2023, some free course programs held are as follows.

New opportunities for students: organization of professional development courses, examination, and certification of international qualifications

On February 24, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Baku Eurasian University and Professional Accountant Organization - Association of Professional Financial Managers accredited by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The main purpose of the memorandum is to improve the professional knowledge of economics, finance, accounting and tax legislation between the parties, to conduct scientific research on various current topics, to hold joint events, consultation and expertise, to exchange information, to achieve the establishment of regional and international relations between each of the parties. 

4.3.4 Education Outreach Activities Beyond Campus

BAAU undertakes educational outreach activities tailored to lectures or demonstrations beyond campus. By referencing the BAAU values, many voluntarily off-campus events were held in 2023.

“Strong Woman - Strong Future”

The training of the project “Strong Woman - Strong Future” was held by Baku Eurasian University beyond campus. On April 6, 2023, the training of the “Strong woman - strong future” project led by Fidan Azizova, the chairman of the student youth organization of Baku Eurasian University, was held at Baku Eurasian College. The training took place with the financial assistance of the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the joint support of the Narimanov District Youth and Sports Department and “The New Future” Youth Education Public Union.

BAAU ensures that participants receive training certificates regardless of ethnicity, religion, disability, refugee status, or gender under the guarantee of BAAU Non- Discrimination Policy.

Inclusive approaches in education

A training on "Inclusive approaches in education" was held at Baku Eurasian University.

Inclusive approaches in education, which is one of the main issues of the education system, and the rules of behavior with students who need this type of education, special approach methods were discussed in the event.

Education for SDGs: specific courses on sustainability

Baku Eurasian University offers sustainability courses focused on solving current and future world challenges, all aligned with the SDGs.

Diversity and Inclusion in Education

Diversity and Inclusion in Education is an important piece of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals under SDG4. Diversity is everything that makes people different from each other. This includes many different factors: race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, ability, age, religious belief, or political conviction. All these factors work together to inform how students and teachers and everyone else encounter the world. This course is about the theory and practice of gender equality and structured by Baku Eurasian University, open to general public and it is free of charge.
