Current situation

Reduced Carbon Footprint: Implementing a climate action plan helps BAAU significantly reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to global efforts to mitigate climate change.

Sustainable Campus Operations: BAAU has developed more sustainable practices in energy use, waste management, water conservation, and transportation.

Research and Seminars: Several seminars and events have been held at Baku Eurasian University such as "Climate change and its social effects", "New priorities in the green energy sector", "Writing articles related to climate change problems", "COP 29 and global climate agenda".

Curriculum Enhancement: Incorporating sustainability into the curriculum prepares students for careers in the growing green economy.

Attracting Students and Staff: A strong commitment to sustainability has attracted environmentally conscious students, faculty, and staff.

Emissions Reduction: A clean and sustainable heating system has replaced the previous ones in BAAU buildings. We have bought and are actively using hybrid cars for our service needs in accordance with the University Purchasing policy. All other BAAU vehicles will eventually be replaced by sustainable hybrid vehicles, according to the plan. After the implementation of the Policy, it has achieved to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions to 210 tCO2e in 2023/2024, and aims to reduce it to a significant level next years.

By implementing a comprehensive climate action plan, Baku Eurasian University not only contributes to global sustainability efforts but also enhances their own operations, reputation, and educational mission. These advantages span environmental, educational, financial, reputational, and community-related domains.
